electromagnetic induction

Michael Faraday discovered electromagnetic induction. electromagnetic induction or EI is an electric current across a conductor through a magnetic field.

magnets can produce electricity (but i don't fully understand how)

it uses the motion of two magnets that creates electricity

Electro nail.

I found a picture and  thought we could try this

iron nail
about 10ft copper wire
One or more batteries preferably D Cels
and strippers

easy enough.

What is an Electro Magnet?

An electromagnet is a magnet that runs on electricity. The difference between a permanent magnet and a an electromagnet is that the magnetic force and strength can easily be changed, and a permanent one cannot.
We can change the strength of an electromagnet by changing the battery type. The battery controls the strength of the electromagnet. So if the battery type is changed, then the force and strength will be either greater, or lesser.   As a result of adjusting the voltage, it will also adjust the current and the resistance, in ordinance with Ohm's law, Current=voltage/resistance.

Ohm's Law = Deals with the relationship between voltage and current in an ideal conductor.

Magnets, how do they work?

Magnets are Any item with a magnetic field. A magnetite field is coused by both a positive(+) and a negitive(-) polarity. The feild is coused by the opposite sides being attracted to eachother. All magnets are are either a positive or a negitive. Magnets will only attract to there opposite pollerity if both poleritys are the same than they will repell eachother.

Where is the maglev train is used.

The maglev train is used in Germany and in Japan. It is one of the leading forms of transportation.

How does mag lev work

The maglev train uses waves of electro magnets to propel its self around the track. The waves traval in increasing fluctuations to make the train go faster. We are using a different method of propulsion. We will be using electro magnets to push and pull the train ocross the track.

Ideas and Info

So with three of you that makes your budget roughly $210...their are simple kits to understand the concept of magnetism and its duality. From their it will be difficult to replicate an actual Maglev Train with electromagnets. Although we can simplify the idea with individually switched electromagnets and include other variables..friction, momentum, power source etc...let me know what you guys are thinking
